Secretary Hegseth has extended the troops’ stay in the capital through February.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has extended the National Guard’s deployment in Washington, D.C., which was originally supposed to lapse at the end of November. The deployment will now last through February 2026.
President Donald ordered the deployment of approximately 800 troops in August under Title 32. The number of service members has now increased to over 2,000.
The National Guard troops are supporting law enforcement in community patrols to deter crime and assisting citizens and visitors in the nation’s capital. They have also engaged in “beautification” efforts around the city.
Vice President JD Vance previously said that if President Trump “thinks that he has to extend this order to ensure that people have access to public safety, then that’s exactly what he’ll do.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump to be discerning in his deployment of National Guard troops to assist law enforcement.
- For Secretary Hegseth to seek God’s guidance as he manages the U.S. military and the Pentagon.
- For wisdom for the president as commander-in-chief of the U.S. Armed Forces.
